These photos are of a tree outside of the RiverRoad Coffee House. I thought the ice wrapped around the branches is such a beautiful image, so I loved getting a close up photo of that phenomenon.
I really like how the trees looked covered in ice. Its difficult to take an image of and get the full effect. The only solution is to get close. Too bad it wasn't very sunny. I imagine light through and reflecting off of the ice in the trees would look amazing.
I think this is a great example of how important framing and distance is in photography. The first is a beautiful winter shot but the second captures a detail that makes the scene much more personal.
What I like about the close up is that it shows what is exceptional about this storm: the ice. The first picture could be a snow covered tree anywhere, any winter; the second picture however shows the layer of ice that encompasses each little branch and has made these past few days so beautiful.
