Studium and Punctum

In this picture from the "at twelve" series by Sally Mann, the punctum for me is the girl's feet. The way that she is holding her feet adds like a playful innocence to the portrait.

This is a picture that I took a while ago. The punctum for me is the little candy cane because it stands out and it is like it doesn't belong with all the candles, leaving kind of a sense of loneliness about it.

  1. This definitely shows a punctum with the candy cane, its almost like a basket of warmth and then randomly its christmas.

  2. The punctum I see is the green candle next to the candycane. It's like it got kicked out. It isn't in the ring of candles, and all the candles that are the same size are under the plastic.

  3. I agree with the punctum of the first image -- her fidgeting foot shows that she's still not comfortable with the image of heightened sexuality she's beginning to adopt.
